It is either not to be positive, encouraging and nice. A good coach conversation can be nice and give energy to both parties, but only "nice" conversations lead no one anywhere! If you want nice conversations, there are other people you can go to. Should it, however happen something and to get the client to grow it must feel unpleasant and uncomfortable at times; because growing can sometimes mean "growing pains".

Gradually, the client will see the goal much more clearly and the path to it is revealed, as well as all the obstacles and problems associated with this. The next step is to remove the obstacles and approach the jointly set goals. How often you meet your coach can vary from meeting once a month to meeting once a week. It can be individual which suits one best or gives the best result, but the meetings should take place with a certain regularity, because then you do not end up and get stuck in old ruts.

A coach expects you to be willing to make the changes required to achieve results. You have to take one personal responsibility if you want to achieve results. You are the one to do the job and if you are not ready to work, the coaching is a waste of money. The result you get from a coaching lies entirely with yourself and is reflected by your efforts.

If you are striving for a specific change, your coach can act as a catalyst and accelerate the change; Instead of it taking you several years to arrive at certain insights, you are helped to shorten that time to maybe a few weeks.

The most important thing about coaching is without a doubt the conversation, because most of the time it is not about the issue. It is seldom a matter of solving a problem such as "changing jobs". The task of coaching is to look below the surface and you often work with different approaches. When the client is faced with a choice, the pros and cons are weighed.

It often turns out that a behavior gives "problem symptoms" in other areas as well. The coach and the client, for example, start looking at the problem "finances" and then when they have worked for a while, you get results and breakthroughs also in the areas of relationships, health and career. It turns out that the unfavorable approach gave rise to symptoms in these areas as well. If you solve the basic problem, it usually disappears all symptoms.

How do I choose a coach?

Before finding and selecting a suitable coach, you above all need to know what you want to achieve with a coach. You must have a clear purpose or goal with the collaboration. If you are not quite sure what exactly you want, then it can be one thing to sort it out with a coach; in this case, this will be the goal.
