What does a Team Coach do?

Make groups more motivated

Team coaching is a method of getting groups to become more motivated and focused on their tasks. The coach must ensure clear roles, improve the group's communication and increase the group's community. They can achieve this by following the benchmarking model developed by Dr. L Michael Hall. This is a model that explains nine important skills that the team coach works with if implements in the work with the group.

Get the team fully involved

The coach's primary task is to create a climate that makes the members of the team fully involved in the group's projects. The coach should also listen to the group so that those members feel as if they are part of the group and are important in it. It is also important to ask questions so that the group becomes confident in their knowledge and tasks and how they should perform these. This is done to give the group more confidence in each other and themselves and make them more autonomous.

Give and receive feedback

The coach must also give and receive feedback so that he / she can improve his / her coaching for the group and also be able to be an outside eye that sees how the group can work better and give the group the knowledge of how they can improve their work or community. But the coach must also be able to be a leader and give the group roles within themselves so that the structure within the group is clear. He / She must also give the group clear goals and clear rules that the group must follow. The coach must also set up a clear path to reach the goal set by the group.

Challenge the group

All these steps should also challenge the group so that they can develop and when they are pressured encourage them to take action and step forward with their achievements. Finally, a coach must be able to begin and end a group's work. The coach must create good conditions for the group to succeed by ensuring that all participants are on the same page and feel that they have a common goal to achieve. But when it's time to finish, the coach must make sure that everyone has learned from what they have done.

Wikipedia information about Arbetslag
