Wikipedia information about Outplacement

Outplacement Outplacement means contributing to redundant staff obtaining new employment with another employer. Various outplacement programs are common, especially when downsizing in larger companies or public activities. An example of outplacement can be measures in the event of closures of industries where there is often cooperation between the state, municipalities and companies to find other companies that are interested in establishing themselves in the locality. The former employer, the employment service and other stakeholders can then contribute to various retraining programs for the staff and in other ways facilitate a transition. Other examples are offering employees in both service companies and manufacturing companies various forms of training programs or grants for university studies. A common procedure is that they are employed by a staffing company, where the original company rents back them as it wants, while the rest may be rented out elsewhere or terminated. Companies that help in the outplacement work are also called adjustment companies.
