How do I become EMCC certified?

European Mentoring and Coaching Council

EMCC is an industry organization for coaches and mentors that places emphasis on quality and development. EMCC (European Mentoring and Coaching Council) is today a global independent organization that places the highest demands on the quality of education in coaching and mentoring and in the certification of coaches and mentors.

The EMCC's requirements for training and certification of coaches and mentors are the only ones where the requirements are at the academic level. EMCCS's highest level of education and certification, master practitioner, corresponds to a master's degree at the University. The EMCC's standard for EQA and EIA has been developed based on extensive research, but also takes into account professional practice, and includes context, reflection and planning, as well as theory.

Here you will find everything you need to know about our quality requirements for practitioners of coaching and mentorship and for training programs in these areas.

EQA - European Quality Award, European quality control

EQA is a quality label at four different levels that EMCC uses when assessing training programs in coaching and mentorship. EMCCS's highest level of education, master practitioner, corresponds to a master's degree at the University. The guidelines for EQA approval of educations follow the Bologna Agreement and the Copenhagen Declaration, ie. the guidelines to be followed by universities in Europe.

By using EQA in all countries in Europe, we can guarantee that educations with this quality certificate maintain a high international standard.

EQA's requirements for training programs for coaching and mentorship give participants the opportunity to acquire such knowledge and skills in the field that they can function as coaches and mentors in accordance with the requirements imposed on them in accordance with the EMCC's rules for individual certification according to the EIA. the norms.

EIA - European Individual Accreditation, European certification in coaching and mentorship

EIA is an individual accreditation at four different competence levels developed by EMCC. The EIA certification is the most meritorious in the industry through the requirements for competence at the academic level that are set. The criteria for EIA certification are based on extensive research, but also take into account professional practice, and include context, reflection and planning, as well as theory. Our level descriptions provide clear information to contractors about the type and level of competence available at EIA-certified persons.

In the case of an EIA certification, the applicant must present evidence corresponding to the competence requirements set for EQA - approved educations. The applicant may have acquired this knowledge in different ways, through different courses or coach educations (even not EQA approved). If the applicant has an EQA-approved education at the level he / she is applying for, no evidence needs to be presented for competence in accordance with the EMCC's competence framework, as this is included in the completed EQA education.
EQA and EIA together aim to raise the quality level of coaching and mentorship and make it internationally comparable. Buyers of coaching and mentoring services receive effective help in understanding and assessing the quality of what they are purchasing and to facilitate the choice of service in relation to their special needs.
